Privacy Policy

D8s is private by design. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — for the waitlist today and the D8s app when it launches.

1. What We Collect

Waitlist: your email address and signup time.

App (when available), provided by you: name or username, email, date of birth (age verification), taste preferences, plans you build, and the dates you choose to log — ratings, descriptors, notes, and photos.

Collected automatically: approximate location (to show nearby spots — precise location only with your permission), device information, and usage data such as features used and events like creating or confirming a plan.

2. How We Use It

To operate the waitlist and send you your invite; to suggest date spots and plans near you; to power features you choose, like shared plans with a partner or posts to friends; to improve the product through aggregated analytics; and to keep the Service safe.

3. Private by Default

Your date logs are private unless you explicitly post them. Posting is a per-date choice, and every post can be shared anonymously. Friends must be mutually added — there are no public profiles and no way for strangers to browse you. Spot-level insights are only shown in aggregate, once enough separate people have logged that no one is identifiable, and there is no path from a surfaced review back to a profile.

4. What We Never Do

We never sell your personal information. We never show your exact location to other users. Venue partners only ever see aggregated, anonymous data (for example, how many dates were planned at their venue) — never who you are or who you dated.

5. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service (hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, crash reporting), under contract and only as needed, and with law enforcement when legally required.

6. Retention and Your Rights

We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service. You can access and update your information, delete individual logs or posts, unsubscribe from emails, leave the waitlist, or delete your account entirely — and request deletion of your data — at any time.

7. Age

The Service is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete it promptly if we learn we have.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
